Baptism

Baptism uniquely portrays the believer’s union with Christ’s death, burial and resurrection. At Life Change we practice baptism by full immersion, which vividly demonstrates these realities. Baptism does not bring us into salvation but rather helps us demonstrate our salvation that comes by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. Romans 6:3-11.

Should I Be Baptized?

Not only is baptism a commandment for those who are believers, but it also points us to the beginning of the Christian life. It is an outward display of our inward commitment and understanding to consciously turn from sin and trust in Christ alone for salvation. For this reason we do not baptize infants. If you were baptized as an infant, we encourage you, in obedience to Scripture, to be baptized as a believer. Acts 8:12 “… when they believed… they were baptized, both men and women.”

How Do I Know If I’m Ready?

  • You have become a believer by faith and repentance, through Christ Jesus.
  • You are able to communicate the truth of the gospel.
  • You have evidence of Godly sorrow over sin, followed by repentance which leads to the fruit of the Holy Spirit.
  • You are able to examine oneself and the condition of their soul. (1 Cor. 11:27-32)
  • You demonstrate a willingness to turn away from the world and live a life that keeps God’s commands and loves God’s church. (1 John 2:15-17; 5:1-5)
  • You have a Godly desire to be baptized.
